FOR SALE: 10" Schmidt-Newtonian mounted on Losmandy G-11.
10" Meade Schmidt-Newtonian OTA, UHC coatings, dew shield and Kendrick dew
heating element, about 15 months old. This is an excellent performer, but
normally you wont realise this as the standard Meade mount is totally inadequate
for this. The G-11, however, carries this, a guidscope, camera, etc etc with ease,
letting you see the quality of the OTA.
Mounted on a 2 year old Losmandy G-11 mount + tripod + gemini + polar alignment
scope in pristine condition. On sale for £2,600 ovno as I am getting a heavier

OTA, the dust cap has been machined out and fitted with a 66mm ERF for use
with the Daystar filter, this can be removed like any other dust cap and be
used as a standard telescope. Included is a Tak tube holder, daystar filter,
1.25 visual back, a new Televue 2.5x Powermate to bring it up to the correct
focal length. I am the second owner of the filter and think it is about 5 years
old, the ota has a couple of paint chips on it which does not affect the

I have to sell this wonderful wide field scope to help get the 12" LX into my
garden! It is an Orion UK prototype that never made production and comes
complete with an Orion USA 9x50 finder, dovetail and rings, Meade LXD-55 with
full (497) Autostar goto system.
There is no dust cap but I have made a full apperture solar filter (Baader)
that does the job perfectly. The scope has been re-finished in ivory with gold
trim (to match the Megrez I am selling in my other ad) and really looks the
business.

a sister company to Intes in Moscow. The Mirage features both high optical
and mechanical quality. It features a 180mm F10 optical system guaranteed to
a minimum 1/6 wave front PTV. The moving mirror focusing unit has zero image
shift and is of such good quality that no add on motorised focuser is
necessary for CCD imaging. With its sharp contrast views, the Mirage is an
excellent choice for both the visual observer, and astro-imager.
The Maksutov optics have very good off axis performance It is supplied with
a padded carry case, 8x50 finder scope, mounting dovetail bracket and

FOR SALE: 10" f/4.8 Newtonian parabolic mirror and 2.6" flat.
Mirror is made of low expansion Pirex for very rapid cooling and has SiO2
(silicon dioxide or quartz) coatings. It is 1" thick and has central ring mark
for easy collimation. Being parabolic reduces spherical aberration.
It's supposed to be diffraction limited but I don't have the instruments to
test it. Star tests looked fine and in any case here's a picture taken with it
so you can judge its performance for yourselves:

FOR SALE: 12" LX200 OTA that has been professionally modified to remove
the vagaries of LX200s. The OTA was optically selected and then modified by BCF
Astro Engineering.
A completely new mirror focusing arrangment has been fitted. This is a belt
driven focuser that takes its drive from three motors and gently and
reproducibly moves the primary mirror with no shift. It is electronically
driven and features temperature compensation. The product was found to be
too expensive to take to the market.
A cooling fan with air inlets has also been fitted to reduce and keep tube
current to a minimum using a low vibration motor and variable voltages to do
intial cooling and then low cooling whilst observing (if necessary).
New collimation screws have been fitted on the secondary for easy collimation.
The scope has been back to BC&F to ensure everything is working well and
collimated using their double pass collimator.
It has support rails and tube rings for a 4" refractor. There is also a 3D
counter balance weight system.
It has been used to to take most of the images on my web page and there is a
picture of the scope on my equipment page.

work by the noted astrophotographer Hans Vehrenberg is available from my

volumes between 1985 and 1990. Each volume consists of a silver coloured ring
binder 12"x10" (approx) which contains between 125 and 176 pages of photographs
of galactic nebulae presented in black on white.
As many pages have mutliple photographs some several hundred different nebulae
are illustrated. As such this is probably the most comprehensive photographic
guide to these objects ever published and Andreas is prepared to make a new
copy available at the astounding price of only 300Euros plus postage to the UK

Adjustable acceleration/deceleration to cater for large telescope inertia.
GOTO features on the handset include telescope co-ordinate readout (RA and DEC),
entry of new co-ordinates, backlash correction,periodic error calibration, etc.
Computer connection is via a RS232 cable (not supplied) allows access to object
databases. Motor brackets, gears etc have been designed and selected by AWR to
get the optimum speed / power out of the complete system. The metalwork is
laser cut out of 6mm Aluminium for robustness and accuracy. There is also an
illuminated polar kit installed. The tiny adjustable polar finder screws have
also been replaced by much longer and easier to adjust screws.

The EQ6 AWR Goto system is in Excellent condition, fully functional and
operational and is only being sold due to a major upgrade.
The max recommended capacity of the EQ6 is a massive 25 kg which makes this
probably the best heavyweight, precision goto system around. The next
heavyweight mount is this category is the Alter D6 which would cost upwards
from £2,500 just for the mount and another £1200 for accurate motors and a
state-of-the-art GOTO system.
This goto system also works with many of the popular Astronomy programs such
The Sky. I personally use it with Starry Night Pro 4.5.
If you are serious about doing astrophotography then you'll know the mount is
70% of the equipment. This is a truly serious precision mount capable of
holding up to 14 inch standard Newtonians.

The Mirage is a super example of a high quality Maksutov. Visually it performs
at a very high level, giving very good sharp contrast views of the planets and
having enough light grasp to show many deep sky targets to good effect. With
a CCD camera it provides superb sharp images and makes an excellent choice for
high resolution imaging.
This one comes with custom made aluminum tube rings made by parallax
instruments (cost £350 to have cast and machined) I am also selling a dedicated
APM 0.8x focal reducer which is new (cost £150) The scope is in as new
condition and is only a few months old. Comes with padded transportation case
and interferometer report. Total Investment was £1800, sell for £1100 inc P&P UK.
